Increase punishments for certain offenses beyond warning points

Suggestion Information
  • Thread Title:
Increase punishments for certain offenses beyond warning points
  • Description:
My suggestion is to increase punishments that are constantly happening on Desteria to make more people aware of the rules. For example, there are lots of factions who constantly cover their spawners with obsidian, I saw that instead of just value getting removed and a warning point, I say that the faction gets multiple warning points and that the person who covered the spawners gets temporarily banned.
  • What would your suggestion improve?:
My suggestion will improve the fairness of gameplay and make more people aware of the rules and more afraid that the server has, which will start to make them follow them more. This can range just from chat rules to faction rules.

Hi Maniac! Thanks for your suggestion - We are always looking to improve systems like our warning point system especially when they are as new as they are. There are however a few things to consider. :)

Firstly

-What Punishments would go with which rule, for example, covering spawners with obsidian would be a 1 day ban.
How do we make sure the wrong people are being punished.

Additionally

- How do We protect the players that don't understand or know the rules as well as the people repeatedly committing the offence and stop people from being banned for accidents or mistakes.
- What Makes these offences ban worthy.
- Do these bans count towards faction bans (something talked about that may be introduced in the future.

Thanks Again

So what can be done to make sure the wrong people aren’t being punished for a rule as simple as covering spawners with obsidian is just to do /f inspect.
To protect the player that don’t understand the rules as well we can have sample photos for each rule, one that shows something acceptable and one that doesn’t, for the first offense it will just be a warning point because maybe they didn’t know but if they’re a repeat offender than the ban should go into place with a warning point. What can also be done is that every time someone joins the hub before joining a certain realm, there should be a link to the rules forum and it should say make sure you understand our ruses for each realm before joining (not mandatory because of bots that factions use to afk).
What makes these offenses ban worthy is that for people who are repeating the offense, they should know the rules and are purposefully going against the rules, which is also giving them an unfair advantage.
For faction bans, that should be the third time offense, say for illegal defenses like regens, first is a warning point, second is the certain person/people building it get banned and a warning point, third is a faction ban and a warning point, and a fourth offense is an automatic disqualification.
For specific rules and punishments, there can be something that goes along with every rule, I wont list them all but I’ll give an example, say an illegal cannon.
First offense: just a warning point and a reminder to look on forums.
Second offense: a ban to the people who built the cannon and another warning point.
Third offense: a faction ban and a warning point.
Fourth offense: another faction ban (longer) with a DQ.

We need more for specific rules as we wont be able to come up with all the numbers ourselves (this is just a suggestion and numbers can be tweaked)

Ok well for the basics like everything worth 1 faction point will follow this guideline:
1st offense: 1 warning point
2nd offense: 1 warning point and ban on certain players who did the offense
3rd offense: 1 warning point and a faction ban for a day
4th offense: DQ and faction ban for 2 days
For offenses that are currently worth 2 faction points everything would just be double And so on.

Pros -

- It will force careless players to follow the rules.

Cons -

- May hit new players too hard and stop players from joining
- Combined with mute bans a lot of players would be banned

Changes-

- More warning points / Strikes for repeat offenders. (progressive punishments)

Notes-

- The content team would rather have progressive warnings for offences than bans.

Moved under consideration - Thanks!
